As an organization deeply committed to racial justice and equity and building an anti-racist movement, we stand strong with Black community members who are using their voice and platforms to say: enough. For far too long Black children, women, men, queer and trans Americans have been murdered at the hands of police. For far too long Black Americans have suffered their loss and used their voices to organize and emphasize that Black Lives Matter. Enough is enough. Yet injustice, bigotry, and anti-blackness continues. We need justice, we need police reform, and we all need to do and be better.

Silence on Anti-Black Racism is unacceptable. We are committed to fighting systemic racism and call on our members to speak up to make sure the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery Taylor, Michael Brown, Tony McDade, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, and the thousands of Black Americans who have been wrongfully murdered by police and fellow Americans are remembered. It is incumbent on our government leaders and all of us to take the necessary actions to bring change to our system. Accountability for these murders is a step towards justice, but our journey continues until all Black Americans feel safe to exist freely in America.

-EnviroVoters Staff

California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all. Join us at www.envirovoters.org and on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. See more press releases.
